"YOUR" Facebook Privacy Settings

With all the Facebook Timeline updates, I've been the go to girl of how to fix the privacy settings. I guess you could say I'm the "Tech Girl" in my circle.  Since I've had to "fix" my girlfriends' settings and/or explain the procedure more than once, I've decided it's time to blog the step by step instructions.

So here is a Tutorial of How To Fix your Facebook Private Status Settings:

Many of us have Acquaintances on our "Friends" List and don't realize you can drop them into an "Acquaintance" List.  You will need to Categorize YOUR  "Friend's List"

CREATE "NEW" LIST

Lists must be created on an Internet browser.. I did not see an option on my iPhone app.  Here are the steps from the Internet Browser (on a desktop).
Go To Your Profile and Click on FRIENDS

Click One of Your "Friend" Boxes to Open Drop Down List

Your Friends List Will Open

Click on "Add to another list..."

Click on "+ New List..."

Type the Name of YOUR List

Once you've created YOUR List - you can sort your friend's - For Example: my lists are Close Friends, Family, School and so on. So when you Post a Status or Photo, whether from your iphone App or Desktop Internet Browser,  you can Drop Down and Select what Audience or "LIST" you want to View that specific post.

Please Note: if you have posts in the past that are set at Public or All Friends and you don't want people you have dropped into Restricted or Acquaintance settings to see them anymore, You MUST go back and change that setting on each individual post or photo.

POSTING A NEW STATUS and CHANGING AUDIENCE (Privacy) SETTINGS

OPEN Status Window and Click on Far Right Icon

Select the AUDIENCE you want to View That Specific Post

You can select a List You Created or from the Default List that Facebook Sets for you.
The Default List is under the "Audience" Category as shown in image above.  Customized Friend's List is below "Friends except Acquaintances" as show in image above.

MOVING YOUR "FRIENDS" ONTO LIST(S)

GO TO YOUR FRIENDS LIST (This is the Friend's VIEW from iPhone App)
Go to Selected Friend's PROFILE and Click on their  "Friends" box to drop down selection
Click on the LIST NAME to Check Mark/Add Them to That List

IF you do NOT want to view their Posts in your News Feed - Click on "Show in News Feed" to uncheck and STOP viewing Their Posts.

YOU are now able to change the settings of how  OTHERS View Your Postings along with who's postings you View.

Remember, that if you change the setting either from your desktop or mobile app - it will become your default setting.  Meaning, If you change your post to "Public" and forget to change it on your next status or photo update - it will stay "Public"  or if you change it to "Close Friends" - it will default to "Close Friends" on the next posting.

Hope this Helps!
Feel free to leave me feedback or request for me to make another tutorial.

Coffee~Cafe~...My Starbucks Addiction

It was such a treat to have a caramel flavored iced coffee topped with a beautiful mound of whip cream. I remember gourmet coffee being something I enjoyed with a trip to the mall now and then as a teenager/young adult in Florida. Florida is so hot that I wasn't one for hot coffee every day.

Years later -Present Day-I'm in New Jersey...my best friend Marilynn introduced to me to the wonderful world of Starbucks hot Cappuccinos...and to make it real expensive, Starbucks is 2 blocks from my home.

She works part time and spends a lot of mommy days at home with me, we are blessed to have children close in age. As you can imagine, it gets pricey getting 2 Grande Cappuccinos 2 or 3 times a week.

I decided it was time to brew it at home!

Now don't get me wrong, I love having an excuse to get a coffee from Starbucks and I always grab a cup when I pick up a bag of coffee grounds.

The key is to buy the grounds from Starbucks and have them grind for you. I found that buying Starbucks brand coffee beans from a grocery store was not as good because you grind the beans in the same machine other brands are ground in. It's just not as good in my opinion.

I bought a Mr. Coffee espresso maker from Target for about $60 on sale... within 6 months it died out.. it might be a bargain for those who don't brew cappuccino's every day but I used mine daily.
French Press

My girlfriend who is a manager for Starbucks mentioned getting a French Press.  That was the best suggestion - saves counter space and no electricity!

When getting your grounds from Starbucks, here is what I have tried and enjoy.

  • Espresso Machine-  Dark Espresso Roast - I originally used the Breakfast Blend but soon found out there is Espresso Roast!  Have them grind for espresso machine. (according to my local barista, those are the grounds they use for the cappuccinos)
  • Standard Coffee Machine - Breakfast Blend -  For coffee machine I have them grind for paper filter but ground very fine...close to espresso.  (I like my coffee STRONG)
  • French Press - Breakfast Blend - request them to grind for French Press.. you cannot have them finely ground because it will steep through the metal filter.
I tried the Blonde Roast and the Tribute...Blonde was too light for me, Tribute wasn't too bad but I prefer the Breakfast Blend.

I need a GOOD strong cup of coffee in the morning to Open My Eyes... or late in the afternoon to help me chase my 3 kids.. ENJOY!

Taco Scoops -Quick Dinner Fix

We had Tacos last night and I had the ingredients left over Except for the Crunchy Taco Shells. Thankfully I had Tostidos Scoops in the pantry--I now have a wonderful way for my 6 yr old to each "Tacos" without making a huge mess.. For some reason he has a hard time eating crunchy tacos; the filling seems to end up all over the floor and kitchen table than in his mouth.

Here are the ingredients used ..

My husband is vegetarian so I make a separate dish of Taco "meat" with Soy Crumbles -cooking exactly the same as I would ground beef.. My favorite Taco Kit is Ortega but of course, use your personal favorite.

As mentioned I had Tacos last night, so I mixed the beef & refried beans in a small bowl, microwaved until heated through and topped on a plate of Scoops along with other favorite toppings. Picture shown is for my little man ...

Enjoy!

In my eyes--on this particular night, this was better than eating at Burger King.

Photography Apps for iPhone (Faves)

I'm so in love with the iPhone camera & the apps that make it even more enjoyable ..

I often get asked what camera and software I use for my photos. I love my Nikon D40x & Photoshop however chasing 3 children, all 5 years apart, it's hard to run around with the camera & different lenses.

I have an iPhone 4 and love the quality of photos and the Apps available to enhance photos just make it an absolute addiction !

Here are my faves:

1: Camera + (has filters, frames, cropping & allows you to write a caption on your pic)
2: Snapseed (recently purchased & well worth the $4.99)
3: Framestastic (let's u frame multiple pics together) ***AWESOME***
4: Instagram (has basic filters but I mostly love to share w/friends -it posts to twitter & Facebook at the same time with out errors/crashing)
5: Shutterfly it is a great online backup tool and allows you to order prints, delivery to your home or as gifts with many gift options available. My iPhone prints come out amazing.. I personally like the matte paper.

And here are pics for your viewing~~Enjoy!

Learning to Coupon

Since I'm now a full time stay at mom, I've decided it's time to take on the task of couponing. We live in New Jersey and the cost of everything & anything is ridiculous!

I have made it as far as buying the zipper binder and organizing alphabetically.
Zipper Binder

I've researched a few YouTube video tutorials & pins on Pinterest.

I even saved good money buying what was on sale according to weekly ad & used coupons. Had my first biggest savings of over $60. However I did not have a lot of coupons and am ready to take my savings to another level!

The ultimate goal is to drive the grocery balance of $200 down to under $50 at checkout.
Any tips & advice is greatly appreciated !

In My Eyes -It is better to not pay full price for products that are overpriced to begin with!
